SILENCE=DEATH
This simple, yet powerful statement was coined by AIDS activists ACTUP in the mid 1980's as not only a call for help, but a call to action as a direct result of the deafening silence of the US government in its response to AIDS. Their silence was literally killing not only our community, but the general population.
Now, in 2025 we find ourselves in a very similar situation with the government's response to the SARSCoV2 ongoing pandemic and the horrifc lasting effects of Long Covid, and once again the LGBTQ+ community is strongly impacted. 46% of trans respondents reported experiencing long term COVID symptoms, compared to 32% of cisgender women and 22% of cisgender men. Trans people also reported severe Long COVID symptoms at more than four times the rate of cisgender women and men. * Once again, we need help. We need ACTION.
